Hi. I know that coming to counseling is often a hard choice for people, so its important to make sure it is a good fit. A little about me: I received my Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Angelo State University and my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of Texas. I am married and have 4 children. I relocated to Corpus Christi to be near the water in 2013. I love the outdoors and the Island is our home! I have a wide variety of experience in both inpatient and outpatient settings, including group therapy and individual therapy as a therapist, director and executive. My goal is to provide a relaxing, casual environment and a personalized treatment plan.
I have several specialties that I enjoy working with in counseling.
*Ages 4-12 on Behavioral issues, ADHD, Depression, Anxiety, and Autism. I used play therapy mixed with expressive art techniques and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. For children who have a history of abuse or significant trauma, I use Trauma Focused CBT.
*Ages 17 & up to treat Depression, Anxiety, ADHD, Autism, and Trauma. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for depression and anxiety, exposure therapy for OCD, and Cognitive Processing Therapy for trauma. I incorporate essential oils into my sessions utilizing a psychotherapy technique called Aroma Freedom. I also have a nutritional program for those seeking alternatives to medicine for mental health. I incorporate wellness into my sessions.
I also offer parent training for parents of the children I see or I can do this for any parent interested. I teach Parenting the Love and Logic Way® classes. (See services for more information on this curriculum)
*Premarital and Marital counseling. I utilize a program called Prepare Enrich (See services for more information on the program) alongside with traditional psychotherapeutic techniques. (See services for more information on this program)
Life Coaching Programs: Life Coaching is a 3 times per month commitment. Program length varies. (See services for more information on Life Coaching)

I was raised and have spent the majority of my life in Corpus Christi. I have been married for almost 30 years and have two grown children. I graduated from Ray H.S., received my Associates degree from Del Mar College and earned my Bachelor’s degree in Education from Corpus Christi State University. I went on to earn my Master’s degree in Educational Administration as well as a Master’s degree in Counseling from Texas A&M – Corpus Christi. I worked for CCISD as a teacher, parent facilitator, and counselor. I spent 16 years as an elementary and middle school counselor. I enjoy volunteering my time in organizations that address issues relating to females and children. I have received awards for my service with the Girl Scouts and Y-Teens.
I specialize in working with children and adolescents as this is my background. However, I am confident in working with any client. I use cognitive behavioral therapy, brief solution focused therapy and play therapy as means of helping clients achieve their goals. I am also able to provide counseling service in Spanish.
I look forward to helping you deal with your life challenges.

Licensed Clinical Social Worker
As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I bring a unique skill set when working with people. I have experience as a Tele-Counseling therapist working with adolescents involved in the Juvenile Justice system.
I have over 25 years of experience in varying capacities at Child Protective Services. Therefore, I understand generational patterns of abuse and the effects trauma has on one’s life, whether in the past or present trauma.
In my extensive career working with families, I understand the mental health concerns that individuals struggle with and the outcomes when left untreated. In my counseling experience, I have been able to assist clients struggling with managing anger, anxiety, depression, substance abuse and more.
I believe in integrating complementary therapies when the time is right and will benefit my client. In addition to using other therapies, I am trained in Emotional Freedom Techniques/Tapping. I have found it to complement CBT as it works well as a calming technique for anxiety spectrum disorders and is also an effective technique for pain management.
I believe in taking a holistic approach to mental health. Come explore how Mindfulness, deep breathing techniques, and other practices can calm your mind and overall wellbeing.
When you are ready to take that first step and beyond, I will be here to offer a safe place to share and heal.

My homegrown roots are in Boerne, Texas though I have lived all over this state. After my B.S. in Psychology and B.S. in Interdisciplinary Studies, I taught for around 16 years to immerse myself in diverse cultures, family, and community systems. I was, and still am, an ongoing advocate for youth as well as families and individuals. I obtained my M.S. Counseling here, on the clinical mental health track, at TAMUCC where I received additional education and training outside of those required, including Healthcare Integration.
My goal, in the counseling field, is to facilitate mental well-being and holistic wellness, as well to assist clients in self-empowerment and personal growth (through individual or group services). Though I am known for bringing creativity into counseling and creating therapeutic alliances specific to client need, I specialize in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), CBT, Trauma-Focused Care, Play Therapy, as well as therapies focused on anxiety, depression, impulse control, anger control, addiction, pain disorders, child and adolescent management, and parenting skills. I have experience counseling persons from 3 years of age to those of respected seniority. It is my sincere hope to offer a comfortable, respectful, and personalized counseling experience to all clients where we can work together toward your personal goals. I definitely know that seeking counseling can be a most-difficult decision and it takes such courage to seek assistance. I can promise one thing: You are not alone!
